Mini sports was set up in 2001 with the primary aim of introducing Mini Tennis to a wider audience.
Dynamic fun intensive demonstration days were run at the majority of the primary schools in the area
and After School clubs were set up as a result.
Now regular Mini Tennis and Mini Squash sessions run throughout the week
with football, rounders, cricket, rugby and netball sessions available in the
summer holidays. The sessions are delivered by a team of nearly a dozen coaches all of whom hold recognised
coaching qualifications.
Mini tennis is
fun, energetic and easy to play and you meet other kids and have fun off and on the tennis court.
Anyone can play at any age size or level of skill.Everyone is welcome.
Mini Tennis has three distinct colour coded stages in the sequence of traffic
lights - red, orange and green. Starting with red, the children play on small
courts with small rackets and sponge balls. As they progress, the court size,
racket length, the speed of the ball and the height of the bounce, and the
length of the game all increase until they reach the full size game.
We now have over 200 children regularly participating in Minisport sessions throughout the Harborough area
and a programme will soon be available in the Norwich area in Norfolk.
